Football French club could take legal action
The search for Emiliano Sala is ongoing, but Nantes have demanded that Cardiff City still pay the 15 million pounds for the Argentine’s transfer.
On January 21, Sala was travelling from Nantes to Wales with pilot David Ibbotson, but the aircraft lost contact near Guernsey.
Since the incident occurred, Cardiff withheld the first scheduled payment until all of the facts were clarified.
The BBC claims that Nantes have threatened the Welsh club with legal action if the payment is not made within the next 10 days.
According to the British media outlet, the transfer of the player, which would have been Cardiff‘s most expensive signing in the club’s history, was to be paid in instalments over three years.
Negotiations will continue between the two clubs and Bordeaux could also become involved as they are entitled to receive a portion of the money through training rights.
The Piper Malibu N264DB which was carrying Sala and Ibbotson has recently been found with one body among the wreckage, but it has yet to be identified.
Investigators are continuing their search.
